Scheduling Policies

The Office of Classroom Management (OCM) requires us to spread classes evenly over five days of the week and over classroom times on any given day. The number of minutes a course meets per weeks is based on the number of credits. The minimum time is 50 minutes per credit (8xxx courses are exempt from this requirement).

3-credit courses may be offered MWF, 50 min./day, or TTh, MW, or WF, 75 min./day. This now includes graduate seminars (see below for options).

4-credit courses are offered 4 days a week for 50 min./day or 2 days a week for 2 hrs./day.

5-credit courses must be offered 5 days a week for 50 min./day.

Courses must start at the beginning of a class hour (e.g., 11:15 and not 11:30). Class times that do not fit into the slots below will go to the bottom of the list when rooms are assigned by OCM. These time slots do not affect courses offered at 5pm or later or courses offered only on Fridays.

Certain times are being over used, so they are running out of rooms for those slots. The times vary, but are usually the 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, and 2:00 slots are in high demand.
